J. Maureen Tiedeman (nee Stewart)

June 21, 1936 - September 10, 2024

Funeral Details: At Maureen’s request, there will be no public funeral or celebration of life.

Tiedeman, J. Maureen, of Barrie, formerly of Grand Bend.

Maureen passed away peacefully after a quick decline in her health, in her 89th year, at her residence in Barrie. She was predeceased in death by her beloved husband of 66 years, Max. She is survived by her two sons, Chris (Shauna) Tiedeman and Todd. Maureen was a loving grandma of Alyssa and Brady.

During her lifetime, Maureen touched the lives of many with her kind, gentle nature. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Maureen had a deep love for her husband, Max, and their bond was an inspiration to all who knew them. They met in July of 1956 at the Wondergrove Roller Rink in Grand Bend, and married the following April. As a mother, Maureen was a constant source of love, support and guidance. Being a grandmother brought immense happiness to Maureen’s life. Alyssa and Brady were the lights of her world. She delighted in their accomplishments and treasured the time she spent with them. Maureen’s love and presence will forever be engraved in their hearts.

Over the years, Maureen enjoyed horseback riding, curling, travelling, riding motorcycles, playing cards, making crafts and spending time with family and friends. In her early years, Maureen worked for Bell Canada and the Bank of Montreal. She worked with her husband, Max, operating a TV and appliances business in Grand Bend for many years. In her later years she worked at the local IGA store where she enjoyed interacting with the community. Maureen went on to get her real estate brokers’ licence, where she helped others realize their dreams. In recent years, she enjoyed golfing, playing bingo, and spending time at Parkview and Allandale in Barrie, playing cards with many friends. Her warm smile and gentle nature will be missed by all who knew her. She leaves behind a legacy of love and kindness that will continue to inspire those who follow in her footsteps.

For those who wish to honour her memory, in lieu of donations or flowers, a random act of kindness to others would be appreciated.

Chris, Todd and family…. my condolences to you on the loss of your mom and grandma. I worked for your parents when they had the convenience store and then your mom took me downstairs to learn the “books” of the tv business. Both of your parents were wonderful, kind and patient people.
    May she rest in peace.
