Passed away peacefully on September 2, 2024 at the age of 91 years.  He was the son of the late Clarence and Pearl Stewart.  Beloved husband of Norma for nearly 72 years.  Loving father of Danny (Judy), Penny (Larry), Thomas (Nina), and Jill Marie (James).  Cherished grandfather, great-grandfather, and great-great-grandfather of many.  Dear brother of Hank, Lloyd, Kenny; and uncle to many nieces and nephews.

In his younger years, Lyle was a jockey at the Woodbine Racetrack.  He spent 20 years working with Chubb Safe, before founding Adanac Security in 1974.  Later in life, Lyle continued his work in security with Protech Security Consultants.  His passion for horses led him to own racehorses and sulkies (harness horses), and he was a long-time member of the Harness Racing Association.

Lyle was also an avid golfer, enjoying both the sport and the friendships he formed on the course.  He also enjoyed painting nature.  Lyle was a former member of the Oro Lions Club for many years.  Lyle and his wife Norma enjoyed travelling together, visiting many different destinations over the years.  He was a dedicated and loving father, always providing for his family.  True to his nature and love for family he spent his last two days playing with his great-great-granddaughters at Centennial Park and the beach.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the Northwest Barrie United Church, 464 Ferndale Dr., on Friday, September 27, 2024 from 1:30 – 4:30 p.m.

The Stewart family extends their heartfelt thanks to the nurses and care providers of the 4th Floor Step-down Unit at the RVRHC, with a special thank you to Dr. Igric for their care and compassion.  The Stewart family would also like to express their gratitude to Pastor Michael Ilori and Sister Sandra Ilori for their prayers and support.

Condolences to the family. Dealt with Lyle during my time working at RBC, and dealing with Adanac. Any time I spent talking or interacting with Lyle was a treat. A really lovely person. I think he had a very rewarding life.
