Robert “Bob” Alexander Heighington

June 24, 1958 - March 4, 2024

Funeral Details:

It is with an extremely heavy heart that the family announces the passing of Robert Heighington in his 66th year on March 4, 2024.

Much loved and adored husband to Lorraine of 33 years.  His beautiful and admired daughter Alanna (Stink), and his favourite fishing buddy and son Garrett (Buddy).  Much loved by his predeceased in-laws Shirley and William Lochmanetz; who thought Bob was more like a son than an in-law.  Bob had many other relatives who admired and respected him.

Bob was a dedicated employee of the electrical and overhead division for the Toronto Transit Commission for 45 years.  Prior to that Bob was a competitive figure skater and made countless performances for Stars on Ice.  In his spare time Bob was a dedicated player and goal tender for the Hillcrest Old Puckers for 25 years.  Bob had made lifelong friends during his years with them.  Nothing was more important to Bob than his family.  This was shown when he never missed a sporting event and was Alanna and Garrett’s number one fan.

During his retirement Bob and Lorraine would go on adventures and enjoyed sitting in Muskoka chairs looking out onto the lakes.  Bob was an extremely strong man who fought cancer four times.  The last battle he could no longer fight.  As per Bob’s wishes there will be no service, but we are sure he would love everyone to raise up a cold one.

The family would like to thank the Emergency room nurses at the Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre (Jenna and Madison), I.C.U. nurses (Nicole, Amy, and Mary), and Dr. Aitken for their superior care, kindness, and compassion during our most difficult time.  A special thank you to Jake Mills who was there when we needed him most.

"Oh, I believe there are angels among us.”

He was a great cousin, person, and the guy who’d punch me whenever we met up at a store. Going to miss those punches. Cheers and give jojo a hug for me 🍻🩷

So sorry to hear of Bobby’s passing. First met him as a parent at Sunnybrae, then some 10 years later we reconnected when he was the goalie in our Wednesday nite summer skate, then later Garrett joined us. Always spoke of his family- loved them dearly. My sincere condolences to Lorraine, Alanna & Garrett. Arnie Ivsins (Mr. I)
