Eva “Ruth” Martin

Funeral Details: Private Family Arrangements

Born on February 22, 1939 in Monetville, ON and passed away peacefully, in her 84th year surrounded by her loving family at Hospice Simcoe on April 14, 2023.

Pre-deceased by her husband, Hector Martin and their eldest son Brian Martin; sisters Irene Davidson, Margaret Parkin, and Florence Douglas; as well as brothers Duncan, and William “Bill” Douglas.  Survived by sister Anne Schell; and brothers Fredrick “Fred”, and Francis “Frank” Douglas; as well as her children Linda Moser, Bruce Martin, Janet Martin, Janice Bennett, Andrew Martin, Brenda Martin, and Ginette Danis.

Ruth enjoyed spending her days travelling from one family to another to visit her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchild.  Everywhere that she went she gathered more family around her, whether blood related or not.  Often a nomad, moving to where family needed her the most, frequently setting down roots in Sturgeon Falls, ON until she was called upon again to be the rock of the family.  She was happiest when surrounded by her loved ones, especially when she had the opportunity to cook her massive meals made with love.

As anyone facing a devastating loss like this knows, there just are no words to adequately express feelings. So, I’m not even gonna’ try!
    Good-bye, Mom. RIP 4ever.

Sending my heartfelt condolences to the family. I always knew Aunt Ruth as kind, accepting, and welcoming. I never heard her speak a derogatory remark about anyone. She was genuine and I especially valued her “realness” and ability to impact one with the wisdom she held. She was a beautiful lady whom I enjoyed visiting every time I was able too. She was able to hold her own and out do us younger ones when it came to staying up half the night, lol. I am honored I got to have her as my Aunt for over 60 years. I’ll miss her. RIP Aunt Ruth
