Stu, a beloved husband and friend of Evelyn for 39 years, passed away on March 29, 2023, at Mill Creek Care Centre (MCCC) in Barrie. He was predeceased by his parents Tom and Kate, and his brother Tom. Stu had a successful career with Bell Canada and Entourage, where he made many lifelong friends who were special to him. He had a passion for his work and was a true people person.
Unfortunately, due to an injury and subsequent illnesses, Stu was unable to continue working at an early age. He was fortunate to receive excellent care at MCCC, where he was moved to a floor that he connected with and received compassionate care from staff who loved him. Stu was easy to care for and never complained, and always showed his appreciation to the staff, who in turn made him feel special with his sense of humor. It was so comforting to have Stu spend his final years with such amazing people.
Stu's wife was very happy with Peaceful Transition and Alice, who cared for and accommodated her requests for Stu's final journey. Seeing Stu one more time brough tremendous comfort, and one more opportunity to say goodbye. The family was also pleased with Innisvale Cemetery and Crematorium Ltd. for their kindness.
Although Stu's passing was quicker than expected, it is comforting to know that he is no longer in pain after enduring much over the years. He lived a mostly happy life, and his family is grateful for the support of their loved ones and the staff at MCCC.
Online memories and condolences may be shared at www.peacefultransition.ca in honor of Stu's life and legacy.

Posted on: Monday, April 3, 2023Sending our love from Scotland! It always made me feel connected to Stu, being here where he was born. I have so many happy memories with you guys but my favourite moments were with Stu teaching me how to use his video camera and how kind he was to let me film some of our family Christmas. Stu was hilarious and thoughtful and I will miss him very much. Love Darryl and Kerry and Lewis

Posted on: Monday, April 3, 2023Evelyn, I wish to express my deepest condolence to you at this difficult time. I was thinking about what to say to comfort you and I remembered this song “the promise” by the Martins. And I believe it is what Christ told us of our journey here on earth. But be encourage that he will be there with you every step of the way. I hope these words comfort you.
The Promise
Song by The Martins
I never said that I would give you silver or gold
Or that you would never feel the fire or shiver in the cold
But I did say you’d never walk through this world alone
And I did say, don’t make this world your home
I never said that fear wouldn’t find you in the night
Or that loneliness was something you’d never have to fight
But I did say I’d be right there by your side
And I did say I’ll always help you fight
‘Cause you know I made a promise that I intend to keep
My grace will be sufficient in every time of need
My love will be the anchor that you can hold onto
This is the promise, this is the promise I made to you
I didn’t say you’d never taste the bitter kiss of death
Or have to walk through chilly Jordan to enter into rest
But I did say I’d be waiting right on the other side
And I did say I’ll dry every tear you cry
‘Cause you know I made a promise that I’ve prepared a place
And some day sooner than you think you’ll see me face to face
And you’ll sing with the angels and a countless multitude
This is the promise, this is the promise I’ve made to you
So just keep on walking, don’t turn to the left or right
And in the midst of darkness, let this be your light
That hell can’t separate us and you’re gonna make it through
This is the promise, this is the promise I made to you

Posted on: Tuesday, April 4, 2023Seeing Stu smiling like that is wonderful. He had that wonderful sense of humour and you can’t help but think of that looking at that picture. He was so quick witted. With his wide range of knowledge Stu was a great Trivia player too! Lots of fun. Stu was very generous, kind, and loving. He was always willing to lend a helping hand when he could. I will miss him. Sending love and heartfelt condolences.

Posted on: Tuesday, April 4, 2023We will miss Stu and his sense of humour! Chris even remembers some of his jokes 😉.
Like Darryl, I also have happy memories of Stu letting us use his video camera when we were kids. Looking back on that now, I realize how kind and patient he was to allow us to get our hands on his camera equipment. He was the “cool” uncle and we will always remember him fondly. Love, Allison, Chris and Emilie.

Posted on: Wednesday, April 5, 2023I walked with Stu through much of my early life. He was my friend. I will remember only the
good, because that’s the person he was. Stu could make anyone laugh. I will remember that.
He touched many people in ways he couldn’t guess. I know…. I was one of them.
Be at peace Evelyn…. He is.
