Carol Berard, beloved wife of Joseph William Leo Armand Berard for 59 years, “Bill” passed in his 80th year (2015) in Barrie, ON. Carol was the daughter of the late Margaret and Bernard Tarbush of Angus and is survived by her youngest sister Sharron Carpenter of Barrie, ON. and her oldest sister Meriam Krause of Victoria, BC (unknown); daughter Michele Bowman and her husband Rick Bowman; and their daughters Allysa Kate Bowman and Dannielle Nicole Lapointe (nee Bowman); great-grandchildren Hardy Jack Lapointe, and Gracie Collins Lapointe.
Carol gave her life to her husband while they travelled for his many postings within his career with the Canadian Armed Forces. Making roots in Marville, France, Barrie, ON, Ottawa, ON., Inuvik, N.W.T., Barrie, ON, then Winnipeg MB., and to retire in Trenton, ON. To be closer to family, their final years were spent back in Barrie ON. from 2011 until their passing. Carol’s career changed with every move, as she assisted in the many offices on a Forces Base or private businesses, from Insurance offices to car dealerships. Carol had few hobbies; however, she enjoyed knitting and certainly caring for her family of which she put her whole heart into. In retirement, Carol and Bill travelled extensively enjoying casinos, visiting friends they’ve made during their postings, riverboat cruises with Bill’s sister and husband, Victoria and Allan Lauder, and long road trips touring throughout the Unites States into Nevada to visit Bill’s sister and husband Eileen and John Skirrow. For quite a few years they enjoyed Florida trips but always waiting until after Michele’s birthday in February.
