We always enjoyed visits with John when he came to Ottawa. He had a gentle almost shy manner about him and he was an easy person to talk with. We had some memorable ski days. Love to Heather and the family!

My sincere condolences to the entire Lusher family.

John and I flew together in the mid to late 1970’s on the DC9. I always looked forward to a “block” of flying with John. We had fun and worked well together which always made our flying more fun than normal.

Now the time has come for you as a family and we as friends and colleagues to remember the great times together!

Our thoughts and condolences are extended to Heather and all the family during this sad time. I only flew with John a few times on the DC-8 in the early 70’s, but remember his quiet and gentlemanly manner he approached life. I have good memories of the night we joined everyone when John got his 4th stripe. It was a great party at the farm in Midhurst.

    R.I.P. old friend.

Gene and I were saddened to hear about John’s recent passing. I have very happy memories of him over many years since my mother Daisy and I moved to Manor Road in 1942 next door to John and his parents. Our thoughts and prayers are with Heather and the children at this difficult time. John will be missed.

Ron and I were so sorry to hear of John’s’, passing. The last few years have been difficult for everyone, especially John and Heather but it is always a surprise when the end comes. We have known John for many years ( Lee-U of T ) and have enjoyed many good times together. This goes back to the wonderful picnics and other activities with the children at Go home Bay. We will always remember the many ski/skidoo trips to Go home, including a trip to Giant’s tomb to see the ice caves. Heather will remember the day that Ron put his back out, on the way to our chalet, trying to lift the skidoo out of a snow drift, getting him up to the cabin where he spent the rest of the week on his back. We were finally rescued by John and returned to the marina. We also enjoyed John and Heather’s visit to England when we were living there.
    He will be sorely missed.

    Lee and Ron.

I was greatly saddened by John’s passing. John was one of my favorite F/Os to fly with back in the 70s, when I was a second officer on the DC-8. One of my great memory was when John and 3 other crew members accompanied me to Budapest to visit my Family, while on a long layover in Vienna.. We stayed with my cousin who was able to look after us for our 2 day stay… I’ll never forget the morning after our celebration which lasted well into the wee hours of the mornin, when my cousin woke us up at 0600 and greeted us with a shot of the famous home made Cherry Brandy, which we HAD to drink. I remember John not wanted to drink it, but after some coaxing he downed it and immediately flopped back into bed.. The look on his face was priceless…
John was a real gentleman and a great pilot who will be missed by all who got to know him. My sincere condolences to the Family and Friends.
