It is with great sadness that we share that Carol Ann Brough, aged 73, passed away at home, surrounded by her loving family, on Wednesday, February 21, 2018 after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
Devoted and loving partner of Leon McKean; loving, caring, and nurturing mother to Cheryl (Dan Chater) and Barbara; and adoring Nana to Rachel Chater, Carol will be forever cherished. Carol will be sadly missed by her sister Nancy Burton (née Matchett) and stepdaughter Traci McKean-Dobbs (Fred) and grandchildren Brook and Boden. She will be fondly remembered by members of the extended Brough and McKean families.
Carol was predeceased by her loving husband Donald Joseph Brough and parents Edward and Dorothy Matchett (née Cockayne).
After many years in automotive financial, Carol was able to enjoy the last 16 years on Severn River with her family and friends. She enjoyed playing cards, participating in book club, and attending many social gatherings. Carol will be remembered for her smile, wit, laugh, and especially her hugs.
The family would like to extend their gratitude to Carol’s healthcare team from the Stronach Regional Cancer Centre at Southlake Regional Health Centre, the Local Health Integration Network, Bayshore Home Health, and the Couchiching Family Health Team.

Posted on: Sunday, February 25, 2018I met Carol in 2014 when we rented a place on the river next to her and Leon. It was an immediate ‘like’ on my side. Carol was kind, considerate, thoughtful and sensitive to her surroundings. My only regret is that our friendship was too short. I will truly miss her.

Posted on: Monday, April 4, 2022Carol was my cousin who lived on Brock Ave in Toronto. We did communicate when she lived in Collingwood with her late husband, Don and I lived (and still do) in Newmarket. Her parents Dorothy & Ed were my Aunt & Uncle and Dorothy was the sister of my father, Sam. I was shocked after learning of her passing and I also lost my husband in May. 2019.
