McBRINE, Richard George
On the 31st of December in 2017, Richard joined his beloved and cherished wife of 57 years, Marion Louise Spring. He passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family at the age of 88. He was a loving and devoted father to Deborah (Michael), Richard (Laurie), Wayne (Rose) and Robert (Joanne); and known as “Grampa” to Michael, Justin, Maggie, Kent and Devon. He will be greatly missed by his caring and loving companion Mary and her kind and compassionate family. Richard was born in Woodstock, New Brunswick on March 17th, 1929 to his parents, George and Florence. Predeceased by his 2nd mother Ruth, his brother John and survived by his devoted brother Kenneth (Beth); all from Nova Scotia. He will be remembered fondly by his sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law Eileen, Mearl, Maurice and Harvey (Edna); and by his many nieces and nephews who referred to him as “Uncle Dick” and his many lifelong friends. Richard was a pillar in his community with strong ties to the Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite, Order of the Eastern Star and St. Paul’s Anglican Church. Thank you to all of the health care providers involved with Richard’s end of life care. Special thanks for the decades of exemplary service and support from Dr. Hankey’s office and the staff at the Stroud Medical Pharmacy. Cremation has taken place and a private family burial will occur in the spring at the 6th Line Cemetery. To celebrate his life, a memorial service will be held at 12 p.m. on Saturday, January 27th at the BARRIE MASONIC TEMPLE, 99 Morrow Road, Barrie; with a reception to follow. As an expression of sympathy, memorial donations may be made to the Scottish Rite Charitable Foundation or any charity of choice. Online condolences can be submitted to www.peacefultransition.ca

Posted on: Friday, January 26, 2018To the Family of Richard:
I have known Dick for many years through our Masonic Lodge visits; especially when he visited Kerr Lodge and also through working together in Scottish Rite. I want you to know that I have never met a finer gentleman. He always had a wonderfully positive outlook and always most appreciative of Colts hockey tickets when I offered him my seats over the years. I have missed him the last few years and will most certainly miss him in lodge and Scottish Rite in the years ahead. He always spoke proudly of his family and was a real example to follow in my life. I am sorry for your deep loss and my thoughts and prayers are with you and with Dick.
