FRANCES PATRICIA GREGORY
March 17, 1932 - June 1, 2017
So now faith, hope and love abide, these three: but the greatest of these is love
I Corinthians 13:13
A bright light has left us and now watches from above.
On June 1st Frances died at the Toronto East General Hospital as a result of complications from her tracheotomy. She leaves behind her sister Margaret and brother Gord. She will be missed by her many nieces and nephews. Frances was predeceased by her parents and brothers Bill, Jack, Bob, Don and Ken. She also left behind many many friends including Jane Hooey, Maureen Baskerville, Margaret Banning and Derek Rumball.
We would like to thank the following people who made Frances's last 5 months in hospital as good as they could be. They are from Toronto East General Hospital Clerk Gail, Nurse Practitioner Laura and Respiratory Therapist Roger and Sunnybrook Hospital ICU and Critical Care Units.
Frances lived a full life. She was born in Thessalon, Ontario and attended residential school at the Belleville School for the Deaf. Her first job was in Ottawa. Frances eventually moved to Toronto and became involved in the Evangelical Church of the Deaf. At the same time she ran a group home for deaf women. When she took vacation it was to go the the Ontario Camp of the Deaf to teach campers about the Bible.
Frances was most proud of being the Deconness for the Evangelical Church of the Deaf for many years where she pastored to those who were sick and lonely. She advocated in the 70's for a dedicated nursing home for the deaf. Frances lived I Corinthians 13 fully. Her faith was strong, her hope contiguous and her love never ending.
A celebration of life will take place on June 22 at the Bob Rumball Centre of the Deaf, 2395 Bayview Ave, Toronto at 10:30 a.m. This was where she lived and loved.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Ontario Camp of the Deaf would be gratefully appreciated.
