POWELL, Goldie Marie (nee Mugford)

Passed suddenly at Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre in Barrie on  Saturday, April 29th, 2017 in her 87th year.   Goldie was born on August 19th, 1930 in Morristown, New Jersey.  She grew up in Kelligrews, Newfoundland but resided in Barrie for the last 38 years.  Goldie is survived by her husband of 58 years Kenneth.  She was the proud mother of Charmaine MacDonald (Brian), Blair Powell (Sandy) and Natalie Cooney (Lorran).  She was an even prouder grandmother of Allison and Rachel MacDonald, Joel and Sam Cooney, Max, Sam and Jake.  Goldie is also survived by her brothers John (Shirley) and Mac (June) Mugford and her sister Pat (Peter) Haley.

A visitation will be held Wednesday, May 3rd, 2017 from 7-9 p.m. at Burton Avenue United Church.  The funeral will also take place at Burton Avenue United Church on Thursday, May 4th, 2017 at 2 p.m.  Reception to follow.  Memorial donations in Goldie’s memory to the Barrie Food Bank or Burton Avenue United Church would be greatly appreciated.  Messages of condolence can be left at www.peacefultransition.ca

    It is with great sadness and shock to hear that Goldie passed away. Loosing a mother and grandmother is without question hard, the rock of the foundation of the family. Beautiful memories, are yours to keep. Such a wonderful Lady, you are all blessed.

    Ken, we were so sorry to hear of Goldie’s sudden passing.
