HOPKINS, Alasdair MacLean

Passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 26th, 2017, one day after his 83rd birthday, at Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre in Barrie.  Al leaves behind his devoted wife of almost 59 years, Roberta “Bobbie”.  Al also leaves behind his four grown children: Kathleen Hopkins (Ben), Kelley Brazier (Elton), Kimberley Murison (Peter) and his only son, Kory Hopkins (Diane).  Cherished grandfather of James, Jason, Chad (Sarah), Christine (Adam), Cherilee (Kevin), Logan, Lisa and four grandbunnies.  GG-Pa of Kaden, Leah and Madelyn.

 

Al was a life member of the Royal Canadian Legion, a member of St. John Ambulance for 66 years and member of the Barrie Veterans Club.  Al’s military life in the Medical Corps spanned 30 years, including deployment in Korea and several peacekeeping missions overseas.  Al’s wish was to collect his pension for as long as he paid into it, which he did by far!!

In keeping with Al’s wishes, cremation has taken place.  A celebration of his life will take place at the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 147 on Sunday, March 19th, 2017 with services beginning at 2 p.m. followed by the gathering of friends and family.  No flowers please!  As an expression of sympathy memorial donations can be made to the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 147, Building Fund.  Messages of condolence can be left at www.peacefultransition.ca
